Jared Age 10
Diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, ADHD and Dyslexia.
“Prior to treatments Jared was out of control. He was destructive, aggressive, explosive, violent and obsessive. All this impacted on his ability to manage his daily life and on the ability of the rest of the family to cope with the massive stress and tension in our household. Since commencing neurofeedback training, Jared’s emotions are on an even keel and he has learnt to manage his emotions. Meltdowns have become a thing of the past. He is better able to cope at school with relationships and socialising with his peers. His concentration and attention span have improved along with his schoolwork. The level of Jared’s s hyperactivity has diminished and his obsessive/compulsive behaviour is at a manageable level. He is generally functioning better in all aspects of his life, which has had a major positive impact on the lives of the other members of our family.”
Seth Age 13
Diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome and a severe Anxiety Disorder.
“Seth’s life has been on an out-of-control downward spiral for the last 3 years, with a major impact on his quality of life, and that of his family (sister aged 16, mother and father). He’s been unable to attend school for the past 3 years, and his days were filled with rages and the extreme highs and lows associated with that behaviour. These rages could be triggered by something as simple as too much/too little margarine on his toast. He was destructive, aggressive, violent, impulsive and oppositional. Our home was like a war zone, which we tip-toed around in, aware that each step brought us closer to a potential ‘land mine’ - the next outburst. Many times our daughter was shipped off to family friends in the middle of the night, because we couldn’t guarantee her safety. Interspersed with this extreme behaviour was Seth’s genuine remorse, his exemplary manners and his desire to please. Thus, we couldn’t ‘give up’ on our child or our belief that there was a ‘good’ kid that we loved locked in there somewhere. His behaviour and care impacted every area of ALL our lives.
“Positive changes in Seth have been apparent from the very first neurofeedback session. He appeared calmer, more reasonable and his perception of events is more ‘normal’. After the first 5 sessions his meltdowns diminished in frequency and intensity, and currently we are experiencing extinction of these behaviours. (His behaviour was so entrenched I didn’t believe this to be a possibility). Our family is working towards resuming a more normal way of life, and healing ourselves of all the trauma that became a part of our day-to-day existence. We’re even considering taking the deadlocks off our bedroom doors! It’s obvious to us that we are on the right path of treatment now, and every day our lives get a little better.”
